I wonder what that even means, or why it would be unpleasant if some of the broth is in the noodles rather than outside of them?

Although I profess to actually understanding the whole thing about the noodles in soup (I think it matters more to East Asians than anyone else, or there wouldn't be a cultural acceptance of slurping your hot noodles), I think this commercial is obnoxious.

And let's not even get into the "fat women are to be avoided because they just lay there, all glassy-eyed and motionless, but skinny women are desirable because they coo and ooo and wiggle around sexily".

I am as disgusted by the fat vs. skinny thing as anyone here....but man, I hate it when my noodles get swollen. One of my pet peeves. When you overcook your noodles, they break down and get all soggy. This commercial almost makes me want to go find myself a packet of Wai Wai noodles. Almost.

*shivers* That is the creepiest thing I've seen today. I hate swollen noodles too, but somehow I think I last my appetite for them today. (I was about 2/3 of the way thru my cup of Ramen... oh the irony.)

What if the sexes were reversed? What if it were a young woman looking at a bowl of men (ra-men?), first distastefully at fat men, then hungrily at men who weren't fat?

It is ridiculous to make a political statement over bad taste. This commercial is only this: bad taste.

Talk about taking things just a little too seriously. I suppose you probably also think that when the animals in children's cartoons are voiced by women that such a portrayal 'animalifies' women, too? If you have a paranoid enough mentality, you can find slights and offenses in nearly anything you see. Of course, that doesn't make those perceived offenses actually *real*. Try being a little less hyper vigilant. Not every instance of anthropomorphication involving a female is part of a vast conspiracy to degrade and objectify women.
