Isabel is a third-year graduate student in the sociology department at the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the development of prison policies in South America and its connection with U.S. trends. Currently, she is studying electronic commerce in the U.S. prison system and how technology shapes new experiences of imprisonment. As a member of The Society Pages graduate editorial board, Isabel curates the topic page on crime along with Caty Curry. In her free time, Isabel volunteers at a non-profit in Chile aimed at providing legal assistance to Chilean inmates. She also plays the ukelele, does HIIT, and enjoys dancing.
