Dolores R. sent in an infographic with various statistics regarding the superbowl. I thought this bit about food and drink consumption was especially great:

325.5 millions of gallons of beer is 11 cans of beer per American, including babies, geriatrics, non-drinkers, etc. I very much doubt that this much beer is being drunk on one day. Perhaps purchased, but even this is hard to believe.

Except that Coors Light was the exclusive beer advertiser of the Super Bowl from 2002-2010. Budweiser's current 6 year contract expired in 2016. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5162445

To find this really useful, I'd love to know how that $50 million compares to what Americans usually spend on food in a 4 day period. Or is that $50 million on top of usual spending? And how much is that per fan?
As for the 1200 calories, it would be interesting to know whether superbowl snackers have their usual number of meals on that day. (Not being American, I don't even know what time of day the game is televised). Is this a 1200 calorie substitute for their usual (maybe 800-1000 calorie?) dinner? Or is it as well as that, but they eat less for dinner? Or...?
And for all of the stats, actually, I'd want to know how many Americans are involved, so I can figure out a per-person amount.

wow interesting facts! May be we should cut the food intake by half to avoid antacids at the end of the day.
