Ron Paul: because being a libertarian means that you care about freedom! As long as it is the freedom of straight white Christian men.

Homophobia. Anti-immigration. I hope that I'm not being too reductive or obvious in saying that much of the politics of the last ten years seem the result of a white middle class being justifiably angry. They have lost or are threatened with losing many of the social gains given by previous generations of progressives. Am I the only one who sees the problem as being one of clear scapegoating, whereby many have become convinced that the gains of "othered" groups have come at their expense. Maybe what we need to do is to subvert these zero sum arguments...

I expected better from Ron Paul.

It's a little depressing how many of the candidates are /solid/ red . . . I'd hope that, even among people who are 100% against marriage equality, they could muster up more "maybes" about things like job discrimination.
After all, in this economy, isn't the only thing that rivals "getting new jobs for unemployed people" in priority "helping employed people keep their jobs"?

the question that i want to know is can me and my boyfriend get a civil union if we want to? i ask this because i am a bio woman and we don't believe in god or anything and a civil union is devoid all the religious stuff.

Hmm...this is strange, given that Ron Paul has openly said he supports the Defense of Marriage Act. I wonder why he's on this list as being for repeal?

I follow politics regularly and I have never ever heard of Fred Karger. I think this is telling of how dismal the situation is; he has not been able to make his voice heard at all.

That the requirements for marriage are different from state to state is okay, but once granted the status, it should be recognized nationwide, actually worldwide. The same applies for divorce, requirements are different but the status is universal.

I wish the chart showed more having to do with Trans issues. For instance, opinions vary on whether trans people should be included in employment non-discrimination legislation, and on how trans people count under marriage laws. We don't really get a sense of that in the infographic.

Oh this is lovely. Now only if they could do this for other issues like immigration. This would make voting so much easier
DanRather — September 29, 2011
Uh Ron Paul supports Gay Marriage, e.g. he is not in favor of the DOMA, or any ban or restriction on marriage for any agents (even if there are more than 2 getting married). Ron Paul thinks homosexuality is immoral, but this is quite distinct from supporting the legalization of an institution (just as you can think smoking is immoral but vote against smoking bans).
Kateish — October 3, 2011
Hey, Ron Paul... on-base chapel weddings, but not to full marriage? You're confusing me.

Looks like I can only vote for Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorus, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, or Thaddeus McCotter :-).
