Jennifer Pozner, Kat Lazo, Zerlina Maxwell, and Samhita Mukhopadhyay join Jay Smooth to discuss a few no-nos for the media this campaign season. Pozner sums it up:
Look, this matters. By focusing on personal, gendered, irrelevant details about women politicians, this conditions the American public to think that woman are ladies first [and] leaders only a distant second. Media play a serious role in keeping half the population out of the political talent pool.

On the positive side, WaPo ran an article on Bernie Saunders's (sic) Hair http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/04/29/great-moments-in-bernie-sanderss-hair/
I assume it serves the same purpose as articles on women politicians appearance, to belittle him.

Actually, kid gloves might come in handy. Goo to know you're noticing stereotyped comments, but remember that women also get a rougher deal when it comes to questioning competence. Ask yourself if you're going to make the same criticism about a man with the same flaws.
