@Anne_Rev sent us this scary Halloween pumpkin. In France, she explains, there is a conservative fear of gender studies, described as “a dangerous theory imported from the U.S. and threatening children.” Oh those frightening feminists!

There is a conservative fear of gender studies in every country, no? This assessment of gender studies in France is confusing, especially coming from a French sociologist. My gender-related studies were highly focused on French history and theory, and if that was the norm in my non-French education, how could it not be in France? Moreover, I never got the impression that the French view their feminist tradition as imported - that statement doesn't even add up if you look at its history in the country. If anything, it is one of France's academic exports in the humanities.
There is specific pushback against certain aspects of American or more generally Anglo-culture gender studies, which actually makes a lot of sense because of some notable differences. But that is a different issue from what is presented in this post. Revillard is a French sociologist based in France, so I have to assume that she knows what she's talking about, but without further details and information, her statement is off the mark (perhaps generalized from some specific quote by some conservative?).

That's because gender studies make no sense, and ironically, is founded on a pathological fear of men
Seriously, look at just about anything they talk about. You'd think every time they feel offended they're being oppressed by the patriarch, or that there's a rapist around every corner
