I'm confused. Being outside of the US, I've only taken in bits of the news coverage of this story; aside from this one infamous event, would the media portrayal of Steubenville lead you to believe that it was more rapey or less than the US town?

I have a real problem with equating reported rapes with rates of actual rapes. All this graph shows is that the rates of reporting are the same in all these areas. That should not be construed to be the same as the actual rates of rapes occurring in any of these areas. Rape is insanely under reported everywhere and rates could vary greatly depending on the local culture.
