For whatever reason, there has been a real slump in the number of people typing “obama gun” (will he take our guns away?), “obama muslim” (the idea used to run at about 20%), “obama socialist” (the republic “hangs in the balance“), and “obama citizen” (thank you, Snopes) into the Google search box since the 2008 election.
Here’s the Google trend (and the search link):
We don’t know how much these fears, versus other concerns, will affect votes against him this year, although there have been some good efforts to track the effects of anti-Black racism on his vote tally.
Naturally, not everyone who Googles these things believes the underlying stories or myths. But it seems likely they either believe them, are considering them, heard someone repeat them, or are arguing with someone who believes them, etc. So I’m guessing – just guessing – that these trends track those beliefs.
But maybe four years of Obama as an actual president has softened up the hard-line hatred in some quarters. What do you think?

Doubt it. To be completely honest, I heard it more this year than last election. It's possible that I dismissed it as fringe nonsense then, but the fact that it's endured in anyone for a full 4 years of a released birth certificate, Obama hanging around with Christian preachers, and not taking away all the guns (I don't include socialist in there because people claiming he's a socialist flat out don't know what a socialist is; they likely are aware of what a birth certificate, a Muslim, and a gun are, but just choose to ignore the evidence, where believing Obama is a socialist may be more bred of legitimate ignorance or confusion). Oddly enough, nowadays I hear more and more Obama SUPPORTERS say things like "I know he's a Muslim, and I don't care, he should just come out and say it, I'd vote for him either way." I think the decrease may be that no one's really arguing those things anymore. It doesn't matter how hard a person fights to believe that Obama was born in Kenya, they know at this point they're not convincing anyone so why even discuss it?

Which part of the "guns" issue is a conspiracy? That he's openly admitted in the debates to wanting to push for another "assault weapons" ban? Or that he appointed one supreme court justice who voted against the individual right to bear arms and another who probably would?
I mean, good on him for not pushing the gun issue for four years, but it's not a conspiracy that he's not very pro second amendment. He's said it himself, multiple times - it just isn't his biggest priority.
It's about as reasonable as pushing the importance of the next couple justices appointed versus overturning Roe v. Wade, not a ridiculous crank like the birth certificate or what his religion is.

It could simply be that Obama has been such a horrible president that conspiracy theories are not needed to attack him anymore. You don't have to say that he is a muslim-commie gun grabber from Kenya, just point to his actual record.

Obama socialist is a conspiracy?? Democrats and Liberals dont even argue this fact anymore. Who would need to research this??
