Technically yesterday was tax day, but since it fell on a weekend and today is a holiday in Washington, D.C. (Emancipation Day), Americans actually got two extra days to file. Whether you’re already done or are wildly rushing to finish up, you might enjoy this short video by political economist Robert Reich, explaining how the concentration of wealth, and the ability of the very wealthy to redesign the tax code to their advantage have affected the overall economy:

Is anyone else having trouble with the fact that almost all of the characters drawn in this type of illustrated video always seem to be male? And I'm not sure what the problem is:
whether we are taught to perceive drawings that are really gender neutral as male and so the only way to portray women is to really gussy up the drawings with makeup, huge eyelashes, a dress, etc.
OR
the person drawing (and others involved with making the video) never thought about the issue
OR
the person drawing (and others involved with making the video) intended all the characters to be male perhaps because they are the only "real" players in the economy
OR
All of it? None of it? I don't know, but it raises questions for me.
