Matthew Ygelsias posted a graph showing that, for those 25 and older, education-level is correlated with rates of unemployment: the more educated you are, the less likely you are to find yourself unemployed. This relationship appears to be uninterrupted by the current recession.
Red = less than a high school diploma
Purple = high school graduate, no college
Green = some college
Blue = bachelors degree or higher

It also seems that the more educated you are, the more stable your job is: the red line keeps on breaking up and down; the blue one is relatively smooth.

It's really pretty sad. The better you start off in life (financially, health care, etc...), the more likely you are to go to and graduate college. So, there are many exceptions but the trend overall is that the same people on the bottom stay on the bottom. I just wish there wasn't a bottom, a country that has multitudes of billionares shouldn't have anyone below the poverty line.

I agree that how you start in life has an influence on the quality of education that you will receive. Don't forget that education starts at home on Day 1!
I just like how the graph grows exponentially at the tail end. Imagine 15% unemployment in 2010, now that would be funny!
