Behold, “The Ugly Truth” about women and men:Amanda at Pandagon offers a nice analysis:
It’s the classic modern attempt to mollify women about vicious gender stereotyping by phony flattery through insulting men—men are such dogs, amiriteladeez?! But the “men are dogs” stereotype is ultimately about putting women in their place, because it packages these assumptions:
* Women are naive, emotional, and kind of stupid, which is why men can exploit these “feelings” women have to steal sex from us.
* Women are obsessed with irrational things like weddings and getting flowers, and they lose their minds over this. (Men are compelled by their supposed out of this world horniness, but rarely are they depicted as losing control of themselves to the point where they lose their dignity.) This is why men have the upper hand, because women are too crazy to hang onto it. It’s certainly not that this is a male-dominated society, no siree, and to make that abundantly clear, female rom com characters now usually have a lot of professional power.
* Women don’t really like sex that much; they just tolerate it to lure unwilling men into pretending to care about us.
* Men are cold, unfeeling creatures that just want sex and nothing more. Women cannot change this, so we have to accept it. For some reason, just abandoning men altogether if they suck this much doesn’t occur to anyone.
* But for some reason, if you buy into this bleak worldview where men and women are completely different, and at war with each other, you’ll be rewarded with True Love.

Great analysis.
I can't believe movies like this are even being made.

Looks like they both have their hearts in the wrong place, kinda like the filmmaker.
It also looks like it's not the best movie to go see with a date. Might be fun to watch with someone you're in the process of divorcing, though.

"Women don’t really like sex that much; they just tolerate it to lure unwilling men into pretending to care about us"
That somehow slipped in to my social assumptions when I was young, and caused a fair amount of trouble til I corrected it (or had it corrected - not quite sure which). I wonder how much trouble that concept alone causes on a societal level?

Er - I should clarify: I just meant the first part ("Women don’t really like sex that much") and copied too much.

this is idiotic for one simple reason i may be a guy myself but while most of us think with are dics not all do i quite honestly find the original comment to be judgemental and sexist. plus i know plenty of girls and women who are more interested in sex than many other guys i know not all women are pure as you seem to think and not all of us guys are pigs. put that in your judgemental pipe and smoke it.

Ugh! My mom rented this movie and it was total garbage. I watched the first five minutes and then put my headphones on to watch American Dad.

Landed on this blog looking for images that depict gender stereotypes. I completely agree with you... nothing more to add. Subscribing.

Amanda at Pandagon offers a hilarious analysis, based on her own stereotypes:
First, she poses as an example a movie that deprecates both typical males and females, and instantly assumes its a chauvinist attack against woman's gender equity. Then, she comes up with a list of "assumptions" she believes whoever made the movie has.
Assumptions or observations? Lets go through the list item by item:
* Women are naive, emotional, and kind of stupid, which is why men can exploit these “feelings” women have to steal sex from us.
Women are just as naive and stupid as men, but i don't think either is stupid or naive enough not to realize that woman are markedly more emotional than men (in average, duh). As for the second part of the statement, if you don't think men can exploit these “feelings” women have to steal sex from them, wiki "seduction community".
*blah blah blah Men are compelled by their supposed out of this world horniness, but rarely are they depicted as losing control of themselves to the point where they lose their dignity. blah blah blah...
Ever seen teenage movies? Year one? American Pie? Ever been approached at a bar by losers asking to buy you drinks? AHA! Men losing control of themselves to the point where they lose their dignity!!!
* Women don’t really like sex that much; they just tolerate it to lure unwilling men into pretending to care about us.
This is a super interesting point and it made me realize something really interesting regarding the Lover-Provider Paradigm: Who do you think spread this myth, lovers or providers? The truth is women tolerate sex WITH PROVIDERS, and lure them, not into pretending to take care of them, like Amanda wants us to believe, but to actually take care of them. This also made me realize that the Nash equilibrium created by our Cristian (non)monogamous marriage paradigm is the only reason why providers get to replicate.
* Men are cold, unfeeling creatures that just want sex and nothing more. Women cannot change this, so we have to accept it. For some reason, just abandoning men altogether if they suck this much doesn’t occur to anyone.
She just said woman "do like sex that much" and now she proposes to abandon men????
* But for some reason, if you buy into this bleak worldview where men and women are completely different, and at war with each other, you’ll be rewarded with True Love.
I cant believe there are people out there that still operate under the premise that "men and woman are equal" means "men and woman are exactly the same in every sense". Talk about sexist!!! And furthermore, that gender roles are something society INVENTED and now imposes ON WOMEN! I told you her post was hilarious!
For humans to develop properly we need well-being from a nurturing mother, and confidence from a courageous father, we don't need confidence from a courageous father and confidence from a courageous mother! It is only by understanding the specific similarities and differences of your individual psyche in contrast with BOTH the rest of your gender AND all humankind, that you can achieve a healthy, fulfilled life and a relationship with a partner that would create the suitable environment to raise an, in turn, healthy, fulfilled child. Feminism is a joke.
tl;dr The movie is right, you're wrong.
