7:24: A great comment in the speak-outs portion on needing a government hand and not the invisible hand for such things as childcare and healthcare. Not only does the economy fail with too much laissez-faire, but what hasn't been done before will never get done.

I'm psyched they showed the clip I made! I'll figure out how to post it somehow here eventually maybe too...

7:33: Michelle Goldberg is speaking -- I want to reread some of her writing; I hear she's great...links?!

7:28: Michelle Goldberg is up first. She's the author of Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism. She's also written about camps that claim to prove homosexuality.
Huzzah for all the anti-choice legislation NOT passing! she notes on the ridiculous attempt in Colorado to define fertilized eggs as full human beings.
Why did South Dakota's abortion ban fail? She says it's part of the Democrats' new 50 state strategy--so many people were registered to vote.
Right on! It's not about putting all your eggs in the East or West and a few strategic midwestern places, but it's about going EVERYWHERE. This got us popular vote, Obama, and it's having an impact on the radically conservative movements driven by the so-called Republican "base."

7:36: Michelle's article on Sarah Palin in The Guardian, "Flirting Her Way to Victory"
Also, our country has managed to go past racial boundaries, and now perhaps it's realizing that women can't achieve equality in this society without reproductive control... now we just need to get going on the sexual equality!
