Fresh from the hypocrisy file: Now we know how Palin thinks government can help people solve work and family conflicts! Just bring ’em along and bill the government. It will be just great to get my travel with my stepkids covered by my employer as a way to help me manage my work/family conflicts. According to the Associated Press:
Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.
There’s more: “The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.” More at Politico. (Thanks talkingpointsmemo.)

Well now, I can kind of understand the wardrobe needs, but the hypocrisy of touting oneself as a can-do caretaker when one has all the help in the world just seems a WEE bit disingenuous in this age of working motherhood, I completely agree.

I agree with Deborah and it is this kind of thing that makes me wonder how a woman can talk such a line when she knows what a load of crap it really is. I guess men are not the only ones who will sell their souls for power.

I don't think SP has sold her soul, that she thinks one thing and does another (the way, for example, McCain does). I think she is a true believer, that she just isn't a deep thinker. I think she would genuinely argue against the hypocrisy claim. And, I'm sure that SP's life is hard and exhausting, and that she like most working parents can use all the help she can get.
