It also means deciding\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">whether or not to shave my body hair. In 2014, some declared that \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/20136-will-the-full-bush-trend-continue-into-summer-why-waxing-is-getting-even-more-complicated\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the bush was back<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d and in 2015 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2015\/06\/16\/to-shave-or-not-female-armpit-hair-is-getting-its-moment\/\">armpit hair<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had its moment in the spotlight as women sported photos of their hair on Twitter and Instagram. Since the 1960s, women\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/48042-pubic-hair-trends-over-time-from-tweezer-happy-ancient-greece-to-your-last-painful-wax\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">body hair<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has come in and out of fashion. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For many women in countries like the US and the UK, removal of leg, underarm, and pubic hair is an everyday practice. A recent US <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/xx_factor\/2016\/06\/30\/a_new_survey_shows_most_women_groom_their_pubic_hair_should_we_be_concerned.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">survey <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shows that 84% of women surveyed engaged in some form of pubic hair removal. Women who choose not to shave these areas often face policing from family and friends that reinforces heterosexuality and homophobia. Many men&#8211;both gay and straight&#8211;report removing body hair, citing appearance and attractiveness as primary motivations. Media outlets like men\u2019s lifestyle magazines promote body hair removal as a way to increase sexual appeal, appear healthy, and control nature by controlling the body.
