These are serious crimes, but routine harassment also isn\u2019t harmless.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b1XGPvbWn0A\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-0\"> <span class=\"s1\">A new viral vide<\/span><span class=\"s1\">o<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/thedailyshow.cc.com\/videos\/5ndnit\/jessica-s-feminized-atmosphere\"><span class=\"s1\">recent piece from The Daily Show<\/span><\/a><i> <\/i>capture women\u2019s everyday experiences with street harassment and catcalling in public. These accounts bring bullying back to light, and social science research shows how and why harassment emerges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p2\">Bullying isn\u2019t just meaningless cruelty; it is one way groups enforce social norms (especially around gender and race).
