{"id":482,"date":"2009-01-12T22:36:43","date_gmt":"2009-01-13T03:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/thickculture\/?p=482"},"modified":"2009-01-12T22:39:11","modified_gmt":"2009-01-13T03:39:11","slug":"internet-and-politics-syllabus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/thickculture\/2009\/01\/12\/internet-and-politics-syllabus\/","title":{"rendered":"Internet and Politics Syllabus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Winter illness has impeded my blog posting for the past few days&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>For anyone who&#8217;s interested in what I actually do for a paycheck, here&#8217;s my <a href=\"http:\/\/pols419.wetpaint.com\/\">Internet and Politics syllabus<\/a> for the fall (feel free to pick apart).\u00a0 As befits a political scientist who blogs for a Sociology journal, the syllabus has a decidedly interdiscipinary bent.\u00a0\u00a0 If anyone has some reading suggestions&#8230;serve &#8217;em up.<\/p>\n<p>My hope is to incorporate the blog into the course discussion and vice versa.\u00a0 I welcome the community to take part in our ongoing conversations.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamill.cla.umn.edu\/mediamill\/download.php.mp3?orig=16208\">used blogs in the classroom<\/a> the past two semesters and I&#8217;ve found that the students learn a great deal from comments posted by faculty or students from other institutions.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a great way to extend the conversation beyond the walls of the classroom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Winter illness has impeded my blog posting for the past few days&#8230;.
