Williams compared Obama to Hitler, in reference to Obama&#8217;s golf outing with Speaker of the House John Boehner, evoking another instance of a TV variant of \u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Godwin's_law\" target=\"_blank\">Godwin&#8217;s Law<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN pulled Williams&#8217; Monday Night Football theme and Hank Jr. offered a statement, but not an apology::<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme \u2014 but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me &#8211; how ludicrous that pairing was.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fox News was eager to leverage Williams&#8217; celebrity and get his 2\u00a2 on the 2012 Presidential candidates, billing him as a pundit of sorts who knows &#8220;a little bit about politics.&#8221; I&#8217;m not sure which would be the more cynical move.
