{"id":2906,"date":"2010-08-22T22:56:19","date_gmt":"2010-08-23T03:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/thickculture\/?p=2906"},"modified":"2010-08-22T22:56:19","modified_gmt":"2010-08-23T03:56:19","slug":"corporate-board-members-are-a-bunch-of-hippies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/thickculture\/2010\/08\/22\/corporate-board-members-are-a-bunch-of-hippies\/","title":{"rendered":"Corporate Board Members are a Bunch of Hippies!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I usually say to my students that accuse academia of having a liberal bias, &#8220;ok, I&#8217;ll give you that one, but the military, religious institutions, talk radio and corporate America have a conservative bias.&#8221;  I might have to rethink the last one after this graph from <a href=\"http:\/\/homepages.nyu.edu\/~ajb454\/\">Adam Bonica<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.themonkeycage.org\/corporate_board_ideology-thumb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"638\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It shows a wide spread of ideology by members of corporate boards based on their giving patterns.  While this doesn&#8217;t necessarily prove that corporate America is ideologically neutral, it does suggest that members of corporate boards aren&#8217;t agents of the right.
