Some of this discrepancy is due to women working in male dominated occupations, but when men work alongside women in female-dominated occupations, they still earn more.<\/p>\n<p>Nursing is this week&#8217;s example. According to a new <a href=\"http:\/\/jama.jamanetwork.com\/article.aspx?articleid=2208795\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> in the<em> Journal of the American Medical Association<\/em>, male nurses out earn female nurses in every work setting, every clinical setting, and every job position except one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2015\/03\/174.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66414\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2015\/03\/174.png\" alt=\"17\" width=\"612\" height=\"655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2015\/03\/174.png 612w, https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2015\/03\/174-500x535.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On average, male nurses make $5,100 more a year than female ones. In the specialty with the biggest discrepancy, nurse anesthetists, they out earned women by\u00a0$17,290.
