They feature things like tolerating menstrual cramps, shaving armpits, taking the birth control pill, suffering through gyn exams, using mascara and lipstick, learning how to walk in high heels,\u00a0wearing sexy underwear, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The project nicely reminds us that women have to work hard to appear properly feminine, as well as the unique things we experience as women.<\/p>\n<p>Via <a href=\"http:\/\/jezebel.com\/5143867\/female-merit-badges-represent-rites-of-passage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jezebel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
