{"id":62276,"date":"2014-04-09T09:00:13","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T14:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lclark.edu\/hart-landsberg\/?p=2043"},"modified":"2014-04-09T13:05:04","modified_gmt":"2014-04-09T18:05:04","slug":"overwork-and-its-costs-the-u-s-in-international-perspective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2014\/04\/09\/overwork-and-its-costs-the-u-s-in-international-perspective\/","title":{"rendered":"Overwork And Its Costs: The U.S. in International Perspective"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">On average, U.S. workers with jobs put in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/blogs\/freeexchange\/2013\/09\/working-hours\">more hours per year\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0than workers in most OECD countries.\u00a0<\/span>In 2012, only Greece, Hungary, Israel, Korea, and Turkey recorded a longer work year per employed person.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2014\/04\/21.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-62332\" alt=\"2\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2014\/04\/21-500x277.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2014\/04\/21-500x277.png 500w, https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2014\/04\/21.png 595w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A long work year is nothing to celebrate.
