No.<\/p>\n<p>Law professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uchastings.edu\/academics\/faculty\/facultybios\/obasogie\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Osagie K. Obasogie<\/a>\u00a0interviewed a series of people who had been\u00a0blind since birth about their understanding of the concept of race. \u00a0 Counter-intuitively, he found that race was as meaningful to them as it was to sighted people and that their descriptions and biases were largely in line with cultural norms. \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/librarysource.uchastings.edu\/repository\/Obasogie\/Obasogie%20(LSR)%20Do%20Blind%20People%20See%20Race%20FIN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a> includes really striking quotations from the interviewees and what Obasogie describes as an &#8220;empirical assessment of the metaphor of colorblindness.&#8221; \u00a0He&#8217;s also published a book based on the research: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sup.org\/book.cgi?id=20242\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Blinded By Sight<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In this three minute interview, he explains some of his findings:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><object width=\"560\" height=\"315\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/E_tZujbwR64?hl=en_US&amp;version=3\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
