{"id":556,"date":"2014-12-19T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/03\/25\/sexualizing-and-gendering-food\/"},"modified":"2017-07-09T01:48:46","modified_gmt":"2017-07-09T06:48:46","slug":"sexualizing-and-gendering-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2014\/12\/19\/sexualizing-and-gendering-food\/","title":{"rendered":"Sexy Women as Food: A Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Flashback Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In her now-classic books <em>The Sexual Politics of Meat<\/em> and <em>The Pornography of Meat<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caroljadams.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carol Adams<\/a> analyzes similarities in the presentation of meat products (or the animals they come from) and women&#8217;s bodies.<\/p>\n<p>She particularly draws attention to sexualized fragmentation &#8212; the presentation of body parts of animals in ways similar to sexualized poses of women &#8212; and what she terms &#8220;anthropornography,&#8221; or connecting the eating of animals to the sex industry. For an example of anthropornography, Adams presents this &#8220;turkey hooker&#8221; cooking utensil:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/blogger2wp\/2slideshow9.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Adams also discusses the conflation of meat\/animals and women&#8211;while women are often treated as &#8220;pieces of meat,&#8221; meat products are often posed in sexualized ways or in clothing associated with women.
