Chan, tweeted to us by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/passion2praxis\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Darasang<\/a>. \u00a0A professional sex educator, she tries to re-frame how we think about sex, and sexual consent, by offering a different metaphor. \u00a0While we use metaphors to talk about sex all the time &#8212; weirdly, often related to carpentry: bang, nail, screw, etc. &#8212; she wants us to\u00a0introduce\u00a0an alternative metaphor: jam.<\/p>\n<p>Jamming &#8212; shared musical improv &#8212; asks us to work together with others to spontaneously create a piece of art that has never quite existed before. \u00a0It&#8217;s a lovely way to think about what sex should and could be. \u00a0And, importantly, it utterly changes what consent looks like and its role in sexual pleasure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><object width=\"560\" height=\"315\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/bgd3m-x46JU?hl=en_US&amp;version=3\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
