{"id":52552,"date":"2012-11-15T11:02:41","date_gmt":"2012-11-15T16:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/?p=52552"},"modified":"2012-11-11T03:15:55","modified_gmt":"2012-11-11T08:15:55","slug":"mocking-the-honda-fit-shes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2012\/11\/15\/mocking-the-honda-fit-shes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mocking the Honda Fit &#8220;She&#8217;s&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The internet is exciting, in part, because it offers people an opportunity to produce as well as consume content. \u00a0This is why it&#8217;s sometimes called &#8220;democratizing&#8221;; it spreads around the power to influence our collective conversations.<\/p>\n<p>One reaction to the new <a href=\"http:\/\/autos.yahoo.com\/blogs\/motoramic\/honda-fit-she-world-only-car-aimed-exclusively-205422886.html\" target=\"_blank\">Honda Fit She&#8217;s<\/a> illustrates a form of resistance through the production of media content. \u00a0The She&#8217;s is a <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2012\/11\/08\/honda-fit-shes-and-the-dodge-la-femme-history-repeating-itself\/\">1950s throwback<\/a>\u00a0being marketed to women in Japan. \u00a0In addition to coming in several shades of pink and the inclusion of a heart in the logo, it has pink stitching inside, windows that cut ultraviolet rays (to prevent wrinkles) and a special air conditioning system designed to improve skin quality (to erase wrinkles).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2012\/11\/104.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-52554\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2012\/11\/104-500x280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2012\/11\/104-500x280.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2012\/11\/104.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A website, called <a href=\"http:\/\/ideasforhonda.tumblr.com\/image\/35295390996\" target=\"_blank\">IdeasForHonda<\/a>, has emerged in response. \u00a0It mocks Honda&#8217;s stereotyping of women with satire, offering its own ideas for what women want.
