I’m a bit busty, and a girl, and strangers have occasionally given me “advice” about my breasts. \u00a0Once I was told by a man I had just been introduced to that I shouldn’t wear sweaters. \u00a0Stumped — and living in Wisconsin — I asked why. \u00a0He explained that sweaters have “pile,” by which he meant that the fabric was thick. \u00a0The thickness of the fabric, he said, made my boobs look even bigger. \u00a0Since that was a bad thing,\u00a0apparently, he advised me to avoid sweaters. \u00a0Weird, I know. \u00a0But I’m just saying, this stuff happens.<\/p>\nLisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
