Men and women in Western societies often look more different than they are naturally because of the incredible amounts of work we put into trying<\/em> to look different. \u00a0Often this is framed as “natural” but, in fact, it takes a lot of time, energy, and money. \u00a0The dozens of\u00a0half-drag portraits, from photographer Leland Bobb\u00e9<\/a>,\u00a0illustrate just how powerful our illusion can be. \u00a0Drag, of course, makes a burlesque of the feminine; it is hyper<\/em>feminine. \u00a0But most all of us are doing drag, at least a little bit, much of the time.\u00a0
