It finishes, unfortunately, by suggesting that the only way to get out of the doghouse is to buy his wife diamonds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the 5-minute commercial, men are punished by their wives for being insensitive or insulting by being sent to the &#8220;doghouse.&#8221;\u00a0 In this five minute advertisement for JC Penney, men who have been sent to the doghouse are punished by being\u00a0forced to do feminine tasks: fold laundry, eat quiche, and drink chai lattes.\u00a0 There is some irony in that the main dude was sent to the doghouse for buying his wife a vacuum for their anniversary.\u00a0 Apparently he wouldn&#8217;t want to be caught dead vacuuming&#8230; which is exactly why the gift might be considered insulting.\u00a0 After all, when you give a woman a cleaning product for a gift, it means you think it&#8217;s HER JOB.<\/p>\n<p>The video:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Twivg7GkYts&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bewareofthedoghouse.com\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The website<\/a> include the sound of a woman nagging and giving inconsistent orders (&#8220;speak less,&#8221; &#8220;talk more&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>How to get out of the doghouse? Buy your wife diamonds (at JC Penney):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4996\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/12\/capture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"135\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/12\/capture21.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4997\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/12\/capture21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I like how it says that she&#8217;ll be &#8220;screaming and jumping for joy.&#8221;\u00a0 Gah, women are so shallow and annoying.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more!\u00a0 The website is interactive.\u00a0 You can actually put people in the doghouse.\u00a0 If you are on Facebook, you can upload someone&#8217;s profile picture and have it show up on the website.\u00a0 A fascinating new way to merge\u00a0advertising and social networking sites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/12\/capture31.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4998\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/12\/capture31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>NEW (Jan. &#8217;10)!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span> JC Penney apparently thought this campaign was so delightful that they updated it.
