We hit milestones on both our Facebook<\/a> and Twitter<\/a> pages this month, exceeding 18,000 at the former and 8,000 at the latter. \u00a0We also celebrated our 5th birthday<\/a> and almost 4,500 posts. \u00a0Congratulations to us!<\/p>\n

And congratulations also to\u00a0Christina Barmon,\u00a0Georgia State University. \u00a0Barmon has written guest posts for us — on health advice to men<\/a> and women in the 1920s<\/a> and, most famously, on sitting, standing, and peeing<\/a> — but, more importantly, she was awarded the ASA\/SAGE\u00a0Teaching Innovations & Professional Development Award<\/a> this year! Congratulations Christina!<\/p>\n

Lisa has started booking talks and lectures<\/a> for the fall. \u00a0Her first talk will be at\u00a0Indiana State University<\/strong>\u00a0(Sept. 17th-19th) where she’ll be giving a featured lecture at the\u00a0International Crime, Media & Popular Culture Studies Conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Other Very Important News…<\/strong><\/p>\n

We visited a little-known private, non-profit zoo in Moapa, NV called Roos n’ More. \u00a0They let us hold and pet monkeys, lemurs, bear cats, zebra, camels, toucans, wallabies, and, kangaroos! \u00a0The best part, though, was being swarmed by otters! \u00a0Here’s Gwen getting an otter kiss:<\/p>\n
