Sociological Images has been awarded a Public Sociology Award from the\u00a0Sociology Research Institute at the University of Minnesota! \u00a0Thanks so much to our nominators, the professors who support us, and to our readers who make it all worthwhile!<\/p>\n

I have a new paper out tracing 30 years of academic debate about female genital “mutilation” (full text<\/a>). I try to tease out the constructive and destructive parts of the discussion, closing with some observations about how these lessons translate to other topics.<\/p>\n

Ben Martin put together a nice interview<\/a>, hoping to help advertise my talks at Harvard University later this semester. \u00a0Meanwhile, Yale student Anya Grenier did a nice follow up piece<\/a> to my visit there.<\/p>\n

And, well shucks, Gwen Sharp and I are among\u00a0the top 50 sociologists on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Upcoming Lectures and Appearances:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gwen and I will both be visiting the\u00a0University of Minnesota to accept our award. \u00a0That fun day will be\u00a0Apr. 20th, during the annual\u00a0Sociology Research Institute.<\/p>\n
