Cohen, Caroline Heldman, and Jay Livingston have joined on as regular Contributors. \u00a0Each has a bustling public intellectual presence of their own and we&#8217;re thrilled that they&#8217;re blogging for SocImages!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Philip N. Cohen, PhD<\/strong> is a Sociology <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unc.edu\/~pnc\" target=\"_blank\">professor at University of North Carolina,\u00a0Chapel Hill<\/a>. \u00a0He writes about family, work, and inequality\u00a0professionally, and at his fabulous blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/familyinequality.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Family Inequality<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jay Livingston, PhD<\/strong> is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/profilepages\/view_profile.php?username=livingstonj\" target=\"_blank\">chair of the Sociology Department at Montclair State University<\/a>. \u00a0His expertise is\u00a0in social psychology, culture, and crime. \u00a0He blogs at the equally\u00a0fabulous <a href=\"http:\/\/montclairsoci.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Montclair SocioBlog<\/a>, where he also does great work teaching\u00a0science literacy with his posts about statistics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caroline Heldman, PhD<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/departments.oxy.edu\/politics\/faculty\/heldman\/HELDMAN.htm\" target=\"_blank\">teaches Politics at Occidental College<\/a>. \u00a0She is an\u00a0expert on the presidency and gender in politics, featured in the new documentary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.missrepresentation.org\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Miss Representation<\/a>. \u00a0She&#8217;s also an <a href=\"http:\/\/carolineheldman.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/30\/rape-in-a-small-texas-town-football-family-and-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\">intrepid\u00a0investigative journalist<\/a> and represents the liberal point of view on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NIIhCC2GeJ0\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-0\" target=\"_blank\">Fox programs weekly<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Please welcome them with your always incisive commentary!<\/p>\n<p><strong>AROUND THE INTERNET:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Gwen posted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2011\/06\/21\/the-promise-and-perils-of-hook-up-culture\/\" target=\"_blank\">my talk on hook up culture<\/a> here at SocImages, it was picked up by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2011\/06\/23\/campus-hookups-colle.html\" target=\"_blank\">BoingBoing<\/a> (to my excitement!). \u00a0After seeing the talk, Ben Privot at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theconsensualproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Consensual Project<\/a> asked me to do a quick <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theconsensualproject.com\/blog\/lisa-wade-and-consensual-narratives\" target=\"_blank\">interview on deconstructing cultural narratives about sexuality<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline, our new Contributor, published two essays exposing the culturally and politically corrupt response to a rape in Silsbee Texas. \u00a0You can read abridged versions at the Ms. blog (<a href=\"http:\/\/msmagazine.com\/blog\/blog\/2011\/05\/27\/a-cheerleaders-rape-in-a-small-texas-town\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/msmagazine.com\/blog\/blog\/2011\/06\/15\/a-cheerleaders-rape-in-silsbee-texas-the-victim-on-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) or her unedited version at <a href=\"http:\/\/carolineheldman.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/30\/rape-in-a-small-texas-town-football-family-and-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\">her blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen was all over the internet this month: on About for a story about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/racerelations.about.com\/b\/2011\/06\/16\/the-race-of-race-in-the-arnold-schwarzenegger-love-child-scandal.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Arnold Schwartzenegger&#8217;s Love Child Scandal<\/a>, on the Huffington Post about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2011\/05\/25\/dove-ad-racist_n_866895.html\" target=\"_blank\">a racially-charged Dove Ad<\/a>, and on a local Las Vegas NPR station\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.knpr.org\/son\/archive\/detail2.cfm?SegmentID=7977&amp;ProgramID=2265\" target=\"_blank\">offering some perspective on home buying and the recession<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I was also tickled to see my post about <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2011\/05\/18\/what-makes-a-body-obscene\/\">the &#8220;obscene&#8221; Dossier cover featuring a feminine male model<\/a> used in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsy.com\/videos\/australian-supermodel-with-a-twist\" target=\"_blank\">a Newsy video report<\/a> about the controversy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHERE ELSE WE ARE&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is your monthly reminder that SocImages is on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/socimages\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Sociological-Images-Seeing-Is-Believing\/8399768839\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook<\/a>. \u00a0You can learn more about your editors at <a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">my website<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/gwensharp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gwen&#8217;s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oh and, um, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/lisawade\" target=\"_blank\">I totally joined twitter this week<\/a>!
