I\u00a0thought of him as I pondered this 50-second compilation of each time a character in a single episode of the ABC Family show,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/abcfamily.go.com\/shows\/secret-life-american-teenager\" target=\"_blank\">The Secret Life of the American Teenager<\/a>, utters the word &#8220;sex.&#8221; How many times? \u00a070 times. \u00a070 times in just 45 minutes of programming.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><object width=\"500\" height=\"390\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ab2MlvPAPiw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>So we definitely know that we&#8217;re talking about sex. \u00a0That&#8217;s for sure. \u00a0But what is the impact of all of this talk? \u00a0You can imagine a thousand different messages contained in the space between one &#8220;sex&#8221; and the next. \u00a0Whether that&#8217;s liberating is up for debate.<\/p>\n<p>Found at <a href=\"http:\/\/thedailywh.at\/2011\/03\/22\/supercut-of-the-day-9\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily What<\/a>.<\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
