and Happy Cows ad campaigns, produced &#8220;Medusa,&#8221; a commercial about a princess whose &#8220;ugly hair&#8221; destroys her chances for love&#8230;until, of course, a\u00a0 man comes along who knows how to tame her hair, make her beautiful, and &#8220;conquer her love,&#8221; allowing her to finally get married:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><object width=\"500\" height=\"390\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/CZC_AKdsgxc?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I get that her hair is made up of snakes, but as a person with incredibly curly, unpredictable, shall we say <em>boisterous<\/em> hair, I can&#8217;t help but notice that the beauty ideal espoused here clearly calls for sleek, straight, controlled hair.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Haskins takes on the fairy tale trope in commercials aimed at women, including my favorite, a milk ad in which the princess&#8217;s PMS mood swings cause a tidal wave of her tears that threatens her entire realm:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><object width=\"400\" height=\"300\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/current.com\/e\/90157350\/en_US\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The California Milk Processor Board, the group responsible for the Got Milk?
