As is usually true, children suffer higher levels of poverty than other age groups:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28078 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Poverty is significantly higher for African Americans than for the U.S. population overall &#8212; notice the Y axis goes up to 45%, whereas above it ends at 30%:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28080 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the post:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Being American gives you a one in seven chance of being poor. Being young raises this chance to one in four. Further, being black in America means a one in four chance of being poor. Being young and black raises your chance of being poor up to one in 2.5.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not surprisingly, poverty is highly related to education level:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28083 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/10\/f3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I went to the original <a href=\"www.census.gov\/prod\/2010pubs\/p60-238.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Census report<\/a> and grabbed some more images.
