The narration goes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the heat of summer, temperatures rise, passions erupt, and sometimes, things&#8230; turn&#8230; deadly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They &#8220;erupt.&#8221; Get it? Get it!?<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/oOJXWqt8Ix4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The thing is, these are stories about <em>real women <\/em>who <em>actually murdered people<\/em>. Lisa writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;the crimes they&#8217;re talking about on these shows are not all sex-related, and I&#8217;m just going to go out on a limb and say none of them are sexy, either. The only reason I can even fathom for a promo like this is just the notion that women are sex personified, <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/03\/02\/sex-sells\/\" target=\"_self\">like the green M&amp;M<\/a>. Even committing horrible, gruesome murders can&#8217;t change that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, if women are involved, best to sexify. If a man murders a man, it&#8217;s just violence. But if a man murders a woman or a woman murders a man, it&#8217;s sexy, sexy violence. If a woman murders a woman, will the murder be sexualized? I bet it would.<\/p>\n<p>This calls into question the idea that we sexualize violence against women because we find pleasure in harming her.
