and\u00a0&#8220;African&#8221;\u00a0instead of nationality categories like &#8220;Japanese&#8221; and &#8220;Somalian&#8221;).\u00a0 The &#8220;Mediterranean\/Hispanic&#8221; category also points to the social construction of race and the way in which social construction varies across cultures (Playmobil are made in Germany).<\/p>\n<p>They families are also racially homogeneous.\u00a0 In the world of Playmobil (at least how it is sold, though not necessarily how it is played with) there are no interracial families and, therefore, no bi- or multi-racial people.\u00a0 In this way the toys reify racial categories and naturalize racial matching in relationships.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">African\/African American Family:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7980.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2315  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7980.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Mediterranean\/Hispanic Family:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2316\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7981.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"376\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Asian\u00a0Family:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7982.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2317\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7982.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Native American Family:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2318  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2008\/08\/7841.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Notice also that all of the families are in contemporary clothes except for the Native American family.\u00a0\u00a0Ethnicized groups are often represented in &#8220;native&#8221;
