We live in a society in which those words often go together because we stereotype black men as having large penises and being, generally, large.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the grammar mistake is humorous, then, relies specifically on this stereotype&#8230; so it&#8217;s nice evidence that <em>the stereotype is real<\/em>. The sign simply would not have the same impact if it read &#8220;Lost Dog Big White Reward&#8221; or &#8220;Lost Dog Big Yellow Reward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\" href=\"http:\/\/failblog.org\/2010\/04\/02\/reward-fail\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fail Blog<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">, via <\/span><a style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\" href=\"http:\/\/drgrumpyinthehouse.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/sentence-structure-it-means-something.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Grumpy<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
