Feb &#8217;10<\/span>):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u0421\u043e\u0444\u0438 \u0410. sent us an ad that gives us an excuse to link to our collection of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/04\/03\/fruit-is-hot\/\" target=\"_self\">ads making sexual body parts out of sexually-suggestive fruit<\/a>.\u00a0 Enjoy!<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jessica S. sent us a link to <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/03\/15\/beauty-bangs-emphasizing-babies-femininity\/\" target=\"_self\">a Saturday Night Live skit making fun of the idea of wigs for baby boys<\/a>.\u00a0 We added it to our post on wigs for baby girls which is<em> not a joke<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Laura McD. sent us <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2007\/11\/21\/french-orangina-ad-sexy-animals-and-erupting-orangina-bottles\/\" target=\"_self\">another bizarre, sex-soaked, cringe-worthy Orangina ad<\/a>.\u00a0 We added it to the collection.<\/p>\n<p>Megan D. sent us an image of a wall stencil that encourages girls to think of themselves as &#8220;just a Bella, waiting for my Edward.&#8221; We added it to our earlier post where <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/07\/07\/is-it-romance-or-stalking\/\">we discuss whether Edward&#8217;s behavior in the <em>Twilight<\/em> series<\/a> is romantic or creepy stalkerish.<\/p>\n<p>Wanna show you love her but not have to actually make much of an effort at being romantic? <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2010\/01\/18\/diamonds-for-when-you-love-her-but-are-sick-of-her-talking\/\">Buy her diamonds!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Andrea let us know about dznuts, a product cyclers use to prevent saddle sores in their sensitive areas. We added it to our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/03\/12\/make-up-and-beauty-regimes-for-men\/\">selling beauty-related products to men<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Remember our post on vintage products <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2010\/02\/22\/vintage-ads-for-cocaine-and-opium-as-medicines\/\">containing opium and cocaine<\/a>? Louise sent us a photo of a hand-written recipe from her great-grandmother&#8217;s cookbook that called for &#8220;tincture of opium.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We never like to let a month go by without updating our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/05\/07\/boob-puddings-are-you-shocked-theyre-from-japan\/\">products shaped like boobs,<\/a> so this time we added a citrus juicer and a lighter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/06\/03\/geez-what-a-tool\/\">Previously Axe let guys know<\/a> that their <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">body scrubber<\/span> Detailer would help guys sleep with both a woman and her daughter. Now they have some hot chicks illustrating at length how to get your balls clean.<\/p>\n<p>We updated our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/08\/03\/white-privilege\/\">light-colored items described as &#8220;nude&#8221; or &#8220;flesh&#8221;<\/a> toned with a set of colored pencils in &#8220;people colors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As organizations have figured out, if you can&#8217;t actually show racial diversity at your institution, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/09\/02\/doctoring-diversity-race-and-photoshop\/\">photoshop some in<\/a>. We added an example from an American Petroleum Institute brochure.<\/p>\n<p>We recently posted several commercials that illustrate a <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2010\/02\/21\/a-roundup-of-stereotypes-of-masculinity\/\">stunningly thorough round-up of stereotypes of masculinity<\/a>. We added a FloTV and Daily Show clip that highlight just how awful men have it these days, what with their controlling wives and lack of power and all.<\/p>\n<p>We also added some of the images of disembodied women&#8217;s legs used by the band Chromeo to our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/10\/19\/white-and-male-privilege-by-panty-raid\/\">furniture and other items shaped like women&#8217;s bodies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And we updated one of our <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/03\/28\/8037\/\">posts about retouching<\/a> with two examples of a photoshopped Demi Moore.<\/p>\n<span class=\"ft_signature\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\">Lisa Wade, PhD<\/a> is an Associate Professor at Tulane University.
