The photos below are of the box containing a Vidal Sassoon hair dryer for &#8220;normal&#8221; hair:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-18795\" title=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/11-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"504\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also, &#8220;good&#8221; hair, as is said, in so many words, the\u00a0blurb on the\u00a0box said so:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Not too fine or coarse,\u00a0 normal hair is the most manageable hair type with the largest range of possible styles.\u00a0 Though it&#8217;s fun to experiment, even the easiest-to-care-for hair requires a regimen of regular maintenance.\u00a0 Proper styling tools with varying heats are crucial for keeping a healthy-looking shine, maintaining balance, and adding&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah, so just in case it wasn&#8217;t clear already, &#8220;normal&#8221; hair is the bestest!\u00a0 It&#8217;s &#8220;not too fine or too coarse,&#8221; has the &#8220;largest range of possible styles,&#8221; is &#8220;fun,&#8221; and is totally the &#8220;easiest-to-care-for&#8221;!<\/p>\n<p>Rudo is an African woman who wears her hair natural, so she knew right away that Vidal Sassoon didn&#8217;t count her hair as &#8220;normal.&#8221;\u00a0 So, what were the other options?\u00a0 If you&#8217;re not normal, what are you?\u00a0Well, according to Vidal Sassoon, you are, of course,\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walmart.com\/catalog\/product.do?product_id=9219369\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fine<\/a>&#8221; or &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walmart.com\/catalog\/product.do?product_id=9219364\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coarse<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But a lot of good this does Rudo, since even the models on the &#8220;coarse&#8221; box are white with essentially straight hair!\u00a0 So much for a range of hair types!\u00a0 Well, at least we know that even white women with straight hair can be abnormal!<\/p>\n<p>And, just in case you didn&#8217;t know already that being abnormal means being WRONG, coarse hair is &#8220;hard-to-style,&#8221; fine hair is limp, and both tend to &#8220;frizz.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 What a difference from Vidal Sassoon practically falling over itself praising normal hair.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another example, sent in by\u00a0@adentweets. \u00a0There&#8217;s &#8220;normal&#8221; and there&#8217;s &#8220;thick&#8221; hair.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/112.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-63075\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/112-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/112-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/112.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cara McC. sent us a Covergirl commercial selling foundation for &#8220;normal,&#8221; &#8220;oily,&#8221; and &#8220;sensitive&#8221; skin.
