have been published.\u00a0 For the sake of simplicity, I&#8217;m going to treat them all equivalently.<\/p>\n<p>The first D&amp;D Playbook (1971):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18421\" title=\"dnd_Box1st\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/dnd_Box1st.jpg\" alt=\"dnd_Box1st\" width=\"322\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1981:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18422\" title=\"dnd_BasicRule_s\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/dnd_BasicRule_s.jpg\" alt=\"dnd_BasicRule_s\" width=\"268\" height=\"344\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Playbooks from the late 1980s:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18423\" title=\"dnd_phb_8th_s\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/dnd_phb_8th_s.jpg\" alt=\"dnd_phb_8th_s\" width=\"229\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18424\" title=\"phb_v1_10th_s\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/phb_v1_10th_s.jpg\" alt=\"phb_v1_10th_s\" width=\"229\" height=\"295\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"phb_2ed_1s\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/files\/2010\/01\/phb_2ed_1s.jpg\" alt=\"phb_2ed_1s\" width=\"227\" height=\"308\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You might have noticed that the covers include fantastical creatures and male warriors and wizards&#8230;
