AH! AH! AH! WHAT?!?!\u00a0 AH!\u00a0 I can\u2019t unsee this!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, yeah, uh, check that out.\u00a0 You might want to watch it in high quality on a full screen.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just sayin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEWLY ENRICHED POSTS <\/strong>(Look for what&#8217;s<strong> <\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>NEW! Nov &#8217;09<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><\/span><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember that 1981 ad for Legos that everyone LOVED?\u00a0 I found three more examples of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/07\/17\/vintage-lego-ad\/\" target=\"_self\">vintage ads that seem rather devoid of gender differentiation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just last month we added material to our post on racial and ethnic themed college parties.\u00a0 This month, we get to do it again.\u00a0 This time courtesy of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2007\/11\/08\/individual-racism-alive-and-well\/\" target=\"_self\">a University of Delaware party at which white people dressed up as Mexicans<\/a> (triggering and NSFW).<\/p>\n<p>We added another example to our collection of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/06\/18\/whites-blacks-apes-in-the-great-chain-of-being\/\" target=\"_self\">vintage illustrations of the argument that black people are closely related to apes and monkeys<\/a>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Erin M. sent us an example of a sex toy for men being described as &#8220;shameful.&#8221;  We added it to our post discussing <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/11\/17\/cultural-views-about-sex-toys\/\" target=\"_self\">how the use of sex toys by women and the use of sex toys by men are evaluated very differently<\/a> (NSFW).<\/p>\n<p>Tim McC. sent in a link to a Volvo concept car aimed specifically at women.\u00a0 We added it to our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2007\/11\/05\/dodge-la-femme\/\" target=\"_self\">the Dodge La Femme<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really interesting to compare how cars were marketed to women in the 1950s and today.<\/p>\n<p>Kristyn G. sent in another commercial where the idea that women are liberated by choice is used to market a product.\u00a0 This time, it&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/09\/01\/the-right-to-choose-a-gift-adapted-to-your-beauty-concerns\/\" target=\"_self\">an Indian cable company marketing itself by comparing itself to non-arranged marriage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jackie S. sent us a link to <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/06\/14\/peta-women-as-meat-demonstration\/\" target=\"_self\">a satirical Onion news report illustrating how feminists might protest PETA<\/a>.\u00a0 We added it an old post with an image of a PETA protest.<\/p>\n<p>Dmitriy T.M. sent us another example of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/06\/23\/wouldnt-a-wife-be-great\/\" target=\"_self\">services being marketed as &#8220;wife&#8221; or &#8220;husband&#8221; services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica S. sent us <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/05\/14\/girls-verions-of-board-games\/\" target=\"_self\">a comedic skit for the Shii, a girls&#8217; version of the Wii<\/a>.\u00a0 We added it to our post on otherwise-gender-neutral-games gendered female.<\/p>\n<p>We added a fourth commercial, this one for Target, to our post featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/02\/08\/women-are-insane\/\" target=\"_self\">commercials that depict women as just plain insane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We added another vintage ad featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/04\/05\/gay\/\" target=\"_self\">the word &#8220;gay&#8221; as it used to be used<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Do you feel you have a truly special relationship with your cleaning products? If so, check out the Lysol commercial we added to our post about Sarah Haskins&#8217;s &#8220;Target: Women&#8221; segment on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/09\/23\/cleaning-products-are-womens-special-friend\/\">household cleaners marketed as women&#8217;s special, special friend<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We added another example of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/09\/02\/doctoring-diversity-race-and-photoshop\/\" target=\"_self\">U.S.-based advertising that removes people of color when moved overseas<\/a>.\u00a0 This time the product is the movie <em>Couples Retreat<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>We added a 1987 ad for Contra to one of <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/08\/26\/another-collection-of-gender-and-tech-related-images\/\" target=\"_self\">our collections of sexism in the technology world<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last month we posted about the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/10\/12\/ralph-lauren-apologizes-for-super-skinny-photoshopped-model\/\">Ralph Lauren ad featuring a woman photoshopped to be incredibly thin<\/a>.
