It reverses the roles to illustrate (1) how offensive these sitcoms are to men (men are useless oafs who can&#8217;t be expected to act like adult human beings) and (2) how we take for granted that hot chicks should marry useless oafs (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bust.com\/blog\/2009\/06\/05\/role-reversal.html\" target=\"_blank\">via<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/14DZsxgP_SE&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I know, it&#8217;s satire, and, if you&#8217;re a regular reader, <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/07\/15\/the-new-yorker-obama-cover\/\" target=\"_self\">you<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/08\/09\/ha-ha-ha-child-rape\/\" target=\"_self\">know<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2008\/11\/21\/ghettopoly-and-redneckopoly-fun-with-stereotypes\/\" target=\"_self\">how<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/01\/27\/equal-opportunity-offensiveness\/\" target=\"_self\">I<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/05\/17\/amy-sedaris-and-hipster-racism\/\" target=\"_self\">worry<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/06\/19\/guest-post-parsing-the-politics-of-caricature\/\" target=\"_self\">about<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/socimages\/2009\/05\/25\/satire-intentions-best-interpretations-and-reality\/\" target=\"_self\">satire<\/a>.\u00a0 To me, this points out how stupid (and gendered) family sitcoms are.\u00a0 But, for others, it might just reinforce the hateful stereotype that fat women are disgusting and useless.\u00a0 The problem is that the impact of the cartoon depends on who is watching it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Wade is a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lisa-wade.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">professor of sociology at Occidental College<\/a>.
