{"id":367,"date":"2008-02-13T17:06:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-13T23:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/pubcrim\/2008\/02\/13\/opening-for-department-of-corrections-research-analyst\/"},"modified":"2008-07-22T11:36:32","modified_gmt":"2008-07-22T17:36:32","slug":"opening-for-department-of-corrections-research-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/pubcrim\/2008\/02\/13\/opening-for-department-of-corrections-research-analyst\/","title":{"rendered":"opening for department of corrections research analyst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/pubcrim\/files\/blogger_import\/37-researcher.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166596591640511874\" class=\"noborder\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/pubcrim\/files\/blogger_import\/38-researcher.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>grant duwe of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doc.state.mn.us\/\">minnesota department of corrections<\/a> emailed today with news of an opening for a research analyst. the department is doing some innovative research these days, so the job would be intellectually rewarding as well as remunerative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research Analyst Specialist &#8211; Minnesota Department of Corrections (St. Paul, MN)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Open Period<\/strong>: February 11, 2008-March 14, 2008<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position<\/strong>: Full-time permanent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary Range<\/strong>: $18.72-$27.46 hourly<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong>: This position will be responsible for evaluating correctional programs and conducting research on sex offenders, offender re-entry, and restorative Justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications Required<\/strong>:<br \/>\n* Graduate degree (Master&#8217;s or Ph.D.) in the social sciences (Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology or similar) with advanced training and\/or professional experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and multivariate statistics.<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>* Demonstrated ability to write research reports for a variety of audiences, as evidenced by the preparation of legislative reports, program evaluation reports, or publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.<\/p>\n<p>* Demonstrated ability to use SPSS, SQL or Access in combining multiple data sets into one final database to conduct bivariate and multivariate statistical analyses.<\/p>\n<p>* Human relations and strong written\/oral communications skills essential to work with department managers and staff, research and corrections professionals in the community and other state agency staff.<\/p>\n<p>* Experience managing multiple research projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong>:<br \/>\n* Experience in the criminal Justice system and field of corrections.<\/p>\n<p>* Knowledge of advanced multivariate statistical techniques (e.g. logistic regression, poisson regression, Cox proportional hazards models) commonly used in corrections research.<\/p>\n<p>* Demonstrated ability to design surveys and use appropriate statistical techniques to analyze and interpret survey data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong>: go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doer.state.mn.us\/\">http:\/\/www.doer.state.mn.us\/<\/a> and get your resume in Resume Builder.
