Holyoke. Covering far more than the significance of book groups, the book hits on eight of the biggest challenges facing girls today, including bullying, gender stereotypes, and negative body image. The authors provide tools and strategies for discussing these thorny topics, providing carefully chosen books, movies, media recommendations, discussion questions, and group activities to go along with each.<\/p>\n<p>And while we&#8217;re on it, <a href=\"http:\/\/goodmothermyth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Good Mother Myth: Redefining Motherhood to Fit Reality, <\/em><\/a>edited by Avital <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/girlwpen\/files\/2014\/05\/21-200x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-7276\" alt=\"21-200x300\" src=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/girlwpen\/files\/2014\/05\/21-200x300.jpg\" width=\"140\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>Norman Nathman, is practically a Mother&#8217;s Day standard, as is pretty much any title from <a href=\"http:\/\/shewritespress.com\/our-titles\/\">She Writes Press<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sealpress.com\/\">Seal Press<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feministpress.org\/\">The Feminist Press<\/a> \u2013 three very different presses whose lists include high-quality works on a range of topics related to gender.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. An experience to massage her mind. <\/strong> Why not gift a mama a slot in The OpEd Project&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/theopedproject.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=61&amp;Itemid=\" target=\"_blank\">Write to Change the World<\/a> seminar, coming up next in Atlanta, Chicago, LA (where I&#8217;ll be<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theopedproject.org\/index.php?page=shop.browse&amp;category_id=61&amp;option=com_virtuemart&amp;Itemid=76&amp;vmcchk=1&amp;Itemid=76\" target=\"_blank\"> teaching it on June 1<\/a>), NYC, Boston, San Francisco, Tucson, and DC.
