{"id":3205,"date":"2011-11-29T00:50:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T05:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlwpen.com\/?p=3205"},"modified":"2011-11-29T00:50:23","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T05:50:23","slug":"feminist-sociologist-featured-on-dr-phil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/girlwpen\/2011\/11\/29\/feminist-sociologist-featured-on-dr-phil\/","title":{"rendered":"Feminist Sociologist Featured on Dr. Phil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">I write to share a quick update on a researcher and writer previously featured on Girl w\/ Pen: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rand.org\/about\/people\/b\/bird_chloe_e.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chloe Bird, Ph.D<\/a>.<span style=\"font-size: small\">, a Senior Social Scientist at RAND in Santa Monica, was interviewed about her research on gender and household labor for the episode of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drphil.com\/show_main\/\">Dr. Phil<\/a>\u00a0<em><\/em>which is scheduled to air this Friday, December 2nd.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\">The \u201cChore Wars\u201d episode focuses on three couples, married 4 years, 16 years and 39 years, respectively.\u00a0 The three wives were in conflict over their husbands\u2019 refusal to do more chores around the house. Dr. Phil counseled the couples, and then turned to Bird, who was sitting in the studio audience, to ask her about her research. She discussed some of the sociological issues as to why the division of household labor is such a challenge and how inequity can impact both spouses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">Bird noted, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: small\">In the case of inequity in household labor, the intended audience is individuals and couples seeking to find an equitable way to accomplish all the tasks it takes to keep a household going.
