Our founders and fearless leaders Douglas Hartmann and Chris Uggen received the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asanet.org\/about\/awards\/2023-asa-award-winners\/\">2023 Public Understanding of Sociology Award<\/a> at the American Sociological Association Conference, Sarah Shannon and Diana Graizbord launched <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/firstpublics\/\">First Publics<\/a>, and we have published new content on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/discoveries\/2023\/08\/24\/roses-are-red-violets-are-blue-online-dating-may-have-a-gendered-view\/\">dating for older adults<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/LXhPyyNwqNQ\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-0\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/LXhPyyNwqNQ\">adult bullying<\/a>, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/U3hKZr1CnI0\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-1\">&#8220;About Us&#8221; video<\/a> on TSP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citings and Sightings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Flordia&#8217;s new education standards for the educational narrative about African American history have led to a number of responses from sociologists, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/antiracism-center\/profile\/caty-taborda\/\">Caty Taborda<\/a> who wrote a piece for WBUR &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbur.org\/cognoscenti\/2023\/08\/14\/florida-black-history-standards-caty-taborda\">click here to read more. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/deborahcarr\/\">Deborah Carr<\/a> was featured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/08\/05\/health\/heat-health-seniors.html\">New York Times&#8217;s piece <\/a>on heat-related illnesses, and commented on older adults&#8217; selection of retirement locations, with most prioritizing a low cost of living and proximity to family over migration to warmer climates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Backstage with TSP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Summer is over (almost).
