Powell brings together sociological works that have highlighted Black women\u2019s experiences with police and the racialized and gendered challenges that lie ahead in developing police-community trust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Social Basis of Psychological Abuse<\/a>,” by Jordan Boudreaux. New research in American Sociological Review <\/em>reveals how people who commit domestic abuse mobilize gender stereotypes, racial stereotypes, and victims\u2019 institutional settings in order to manipulate their victims\u2019 sense of reality.

Teaching TSP<\/a>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Teaching White Privilege<\/a>,” by Erika Sanborne. New research in Teaching Sociology<\/em> finds that students\u2019 awareness of white privilege and understanding of racial inequality increased when they were taught in a mixed-race, cooperative learning setting. However, the benefits came at a cost to students of color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
