{"id":4035,"date":"2011-08-15T16:15:34","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T20:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/?p=4035"},"modified":"2011-08-16T11:47:09","modified_gmt":"2011-08-16T15:47:09","slug":"mapping-asa2011-tweets-with-nodexl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2011\/08\/15\/mapping-asa2011-tweets-with-nodexl\/","title":{"rendered":"Mapping #ASA2011 Tweets with NodeXL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/asanet.org\/AM2011\/index.cfm\">2011 American Sociological Association Meetings<\/a> are about to start this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>As the conference gets underway, the volume of tweets containing the #<a href=\"http:\/\/search.twitter.com\/search?q=ASA2011\">ASA2011<\/a> hashtag is rising.<\/p>\n<p>Using NodeXL, I collected a set of tweets with the #<a href=\"http:\/\/search.twitter.com\/search?q=ASA2011\">ASA2011<\/a> tag and mapped the connections among the people who tweeted that term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6206\/6047055372_6cd230576b_o.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6206\/6047055372_23547031d4.jpg\" alt=\"ASA 2011 NodeXL SNA Twitter Map\" width=\"500\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are the connections among the Twitter users who recently tweeted the word <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/search.twitter.com\/search?q=ASA2011\">ASA2011<\/a> when queried on August 15, 2011<!--more-->, scaled by numbers of followers (with outliers thresholded).   Connections created when users reply, mention or follow one another.<\/p>\n<p>See: <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/asanet.org\/AM2011\/index.cfm\">asanet.org\/AM2011\/index.cfm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Layout using the &#8220;Group Layout&#8221; composed of tiled bounded regions.
