We&#8217;ve gone from a small band of grad students\u00a0to a slightly larger\u00a0band of grad students (and faculty) who live all around the world. \u00a0We&#8217;ve covered everything from the (probably) last presidential election to the resurgence of memes as a cultural object worthy of careful dissection and analysis (admit it\u2014people were barely talking about those things for like a year or something).<\/p>\n<p>We are proud to announce several new contributors to the blog, all of whom have been writing all month without a proper introduction:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/author\/crystalabidin\/\">Crystal Abidin<\/a> is covering everything viral including (but definitely not limited to)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/09\/29\/pen-pineapple-apple-pen-and-the-lifecycle-of-internet-virality\/\">Pen Pineapple, Apple Pen<\/a>, shifts in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/09\/19\/a-few-shifts-in-the-influencer-industry\/\">influencer industry<\/a>,\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/08\/24\/gross-is-the-new-like-grotesque-microcelebrity-and-carnivalesque-commerce\/\">grotesque microcelebrity.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/author\/gabischaffzin\/\">Gabi Schaffzin<\/a>\u00a0has written about <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/05\/angela-washkos-cinema-of-cruelty\/\">Angela Washko<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/17\/a-report-from-the-front-lines-of-the-war-on-science\/\">War on Science<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/09\/26\/getting-inside-the-apparatus-at-xoxo-fest\/\">XOXO fest<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/09\/21\/keeping-the-demons-at-bay\/\">Mr. Robot.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/author\/stephenmcnulty\/\">Stephen McNulty<\/a> has essays up about <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/13\/bathroom-affects-trans-rights-and-the-spectacle-of-shame\/\">trans rights<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/20\/viral-geographies-mapping-contagion\/\">viral geographies<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/06\/on-medial-desire-or-that-philip-k-dick-title-everyone-uses\/\">media desire<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/author\/marleyvincentlindsey\/\">Marley-Vincent Lindsey<\/a> has got an essay up about the meme that fell from grace: <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/08\/parting-ways-with-pepe-anti-semitism-and-the-medium-of-memes\/\">Pepe<\/a>. And, most recently,\u00a0reflected on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/26\/playing-together-reflections-on-communities-the-web-and-political-modernity\/\">communities in World of Warcraft<\/a> and the reserach that engendered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And of course <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/author\/britneysummitgil\/\">Britney Summit-Gil<\/a>\u00a0has been keeping track of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/09\/23\/cant-buy-me-memes\/\">election<\/a> and most recently wrote about all the tech around <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/cyborgology\/2016\/10\/25\/control-yourself-technologies-of-menstruation\/\">controlling people through controlling menstruation<\/a>. Jenny has taken a job at Australian National University and David earned his PhD last summer and is doing a bunch of different academic odd jobs.
