Sierra-Ar\u00e9valo examines police culture and how it shapes interactions with the public. Republicans are criticizing Walz\u2019s response to the mass protests following the 2020 police murder of George Floyd, saying Walz \u201clet Minnesota burn\u201d by not bringing in the National Guard quickly enough. A 2021 study led by <a href=\"https:\/\/micda.isr.umich.edu\/people\/sarah-e-patterson\/\">Sarah Patterson<\/a> (Research Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan) found that among older adults needing assistance, about half of adults with biological children received care from them, while fewer than a quarter of adults in blended families received care from their step-children. \u201cWe have more reconfigured families than ever before, and these families may increasingly rely on someone who\u2019s not a biological child.
